With an extended workforce of 800,000 employees across the globe, Shell is focusing more than ever on harnessing the resilience and skills of its employees. New technology, new ways of working and the need to pivot has proven to be both an exciting and challenging time for the leaders at Shell.

As Chief HR Officer for the Commercial Business, 2020 has been one of the most exciting years in Matt’s extensive career.

In this video, he highlights the three key HR themes for Shell:

  • Pivoting – focusing on the true north but being able to change direction.

  • Resilience – coaching leaders and supporting employees’ mental health.

  • Acceleration – leveraging new technology and the trends in the gig economy to build a more agile workforce.
